January 30th, 1968, the kick off of the TET offense at Da Nang I was on Blocking Force #1 led by a TSgt Slagle. He deployed us on the perimeter of the Juliet area. About 6 of us hit the ground and were bunched up when TSgt Slagle had us run down the line and separate. As we were running sniper fire was being heard and we all dove on the ground. When I hit the ground my right knee hit a rock and burst open. I didn't notice it until after retuning to the hooch #3. My pant leg was soaked with dried blood so I took them off, wahed my knee and wrapped a towel around it. Later that afternoon when I went on duty - Roving SAT team the SAT leader, a SSgt Thompson (Recent returnee from Dong Ha dropped me off at the hospital where a medice clean up my knee, bandaged it and wrapped an ACE bandage around it. Then sent me on my way- back to manning the M-60 on the jeep. I have no medical records of this incident but then again the medice didn't even ask me my name. It was in and out. If there is anyone out there that remembers this please let me know. I went by the name of Willie while at Da Nang from November 1967 to June 1968.
